Ich habe bei contactmusic noch ein paar Schnipsel aus diesem Interview gefunden:

Late music legend JOHN LENNON was convinced the American government bugged his house phone because it considered him a national threat. The former BEATLE, who famously accused the US government of spying on him on DICK CAVETT's TV chat show, believes he was a target because of his involvement in the peace movement during the Vietnam War. In a 1975 interview with New York City-based Capital Radio which has only recently resurfaced, Lennon says, "I can't prove my phone was tapped. I just know there were a lot of repairs going on in the cellar.

"I know the difference between picking the phone up when it's working normally and picking it up and there being a lot of noises.

"I was paranoid at the time - who wouldn't be? Suddenly I realised this was serious; they were coming for me, harassing me. So I went on the Dick Cavett Show and I said it that night.

"I said it on the air and it went away the next day - nobody there. Now I think, 'Was I dreaming?' but my lawyer started to agree because his phones were also being tapped.

"As he's as straight as the next lawyer."

Late legend JOHN LENNON felt he was losing his grip on sanity during his year-long separation from wife YOKO ONO in 1974. The former BEATLE, who was shot dead in 1980 by MARK CHAPMAN, found the experience of being apart from his wife traumatising because he was convinced he would enjoy being single again. In a 1975 interview with New York City-based Capital Radio which has only recently resurfaced, Lennon says, "Yes, I am back with Yoko. It's rather nice. I feel a bit sane again.

"It's a bit traumatic when something happens to you. Our failure was the separation and it was a tough year.

"It's alright wondering what life is like on the other side and that's one of the lessons of life, I guess - always thinking what it's like to stand on your head and do it.

"The things one learns in life, the magic of life, is so subtle that it's always in peripheral vision.

"If you turn your head towards it, it goes away. I, like many other people, consciously look, whip my head round and find out I've banged my head into a wall."

THE BEATLES star JOHN LENNON resented critics labelling his hugely successful solo album IMAGINE as the best he would ever produce, because he believed he would live long enough to pen a superior record. Speaking in a recently discovered radio interview dating from 1975, the late rock legend - who was shot by schizophrenic M--K C-----N just five years later (80) - did not agree with fickle reviewers who claimed he had reached his peak with the hit 1971 LP.

He says, "How can somebody with any sanity in their mind pin down Imagine and decide it will make the best album I will ever make? I'm 34 and, apart from acts of God, will be around for another 60 years or whatever.

"I get hurt if people just attack me personally like some reviewers do. I get hurt because the guy doesn't like me - but too bad. Up his.

"I'm doing it as long as I'm enjoying it and I'll be doing it until I drop."

Title track Imagine has since been hailed as the greatest single ever released.
