Wie immer werden die anderen Künstler zu Nebenrollen degradiert und Paul bleibt der Höhepunkt des Konzerts.Ich finde es immer witzig, wie alle anderen Stars bei solchen Ereignissen am Ende zu Paul auf die Bühne kommen und bei seinen Liedern mitsingen.Das beweist wieder einmal, welche grosse Bedeutung er hat.Paul würde wohl niemals am Schluss zu Elton John gehen und eines seiner Lieder mitsingen oder eines der Stones - nein ! Sie kommen zu ihm und singen seine Lieder, weil Paul der Grösste ist und bleibt !

Celebrity fundraisers for Hurricane Katrina victims begin

The first telethon to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina aired Friday night.

New Orleans native Aaron Neville performed Randy Newman's soulful "Louisiana 1927" with the memorable chorus, "they're trying to wash us away, they're trying to wash us away."

"In terms of property damage," said actress Hilary Swank, "the estimate is at least $26 billion in insured losses and perhaps twice that in uninsured losses over a 90,000-square-mile area - approximately the size of Kansas."

Other speakers included Lindsay Lohan, Eric LaSalle, Glenn Close, Richard Gere, John Goodman and Leonardo DiCaprio.

New York governor George Pataki presented the Red Cross with a check for $2.5 million US and promised, "This great state will do far more."

NBC and the five other major commercial broadcast networks, along with PBS, plan to unite next Friday for a special.

More telethons are planned for later this month on MTV and BET.

On Sept. 9, BET will broadcast a two-part, four-hour fundraiser. Russell Simmons, Chris Rock, Wynton Marsalis and rappers Master P, Juvenile and David Banner are among those scheduled to appear. The special begins at 6 p.m. ET.

On Sept. 10, Neil Young, the Rolling Stones, Green Day, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, Brian Wilson, Sheryl Crow, Ludacris, Gretchen Wilson, Usher, Alicia Keys, John Mellencamp and Rob Thomas are set to appear on a benefit concert that will air on MTV, VH1 and CMT.

When her talk show returns on Monday, Ellen DeGeneres will also be raising money.

DeGeneres, a New Orleans native whose 82-year-old aunt, cousins and friends had their Gulf Coast homes destroyed, has taped an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show dedicated to discussion of the devastation. It will air Monday, the start of the show's third season.

"We have a different show planned for you today because things have changed and we cannot pretend they haven't," DeGeneres tells the audience. "I can't pretend to do a normal show."

DeGeneres also plans to announce a hurricane relief fund. The show's producer, Warner Bros. Entertainment, said it would donate $500,000 US and match viewers' contributions up to the same amount.

Also on Monday, musical theatre star Colm Wilkinson will join the cast of the annual Jerry Lewis muscular dystrophy telethon, along with Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys and Barry Manilow. This year's telethon will include fundraising appeals for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

On September 21, ABC will launch its new series Invasion, which the network has described as the "suspenseful tale of a blended family trying to recover from a devastating hurricane and its mysterious aftermath." TV Guide has reported the writers will be making some changes to the show before it airs, and ABC has already pulled the previews that show the hurricane.

Other celebrity efforts:

Beginning Tuesday, Jay Leno will ask his guests on The Tonight Show to sign a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that will be put up for auction later this month on eBay. Earlier this year, Leno raised $810,000 US for tsunami victims in Asia, by doing the same thing.

Rapper Master P, whose house in New Orleans was destroyed, has formed a foundation called Team Rescue to "save the neighborhood and rebuild our communities." On Thursday, he was still looking for missing family members in the area.

The Dave Matthews Band has announced a Sept. 12 benefit concert in Denver. "We're just getting in line behind those people, getting in line a long way behind the Red Cross or National Guard, but we all have to do a little bit," Matthews told the Associated Press.

E! Networks has announced that it would produce a public service announcement to support the American Red Cross, featuring Eva Longoria, Pamela Anderson, Destiny's Child, Steve Carell, Nicole Richie, John Larroquette, Mariah Carey, Carlos Santana and Paula Abdul. Larroquette, a New Orleans native, said Friday he will also contribute art to an online auction being organized by actor Morgan Freeman.

On Sept. 27., country singers Alan Jackson, Keith Urban and Alison Krauss will perform a Grand Ole Opry benefit concert in Nashville, Tenn. It will air live on U.S. specialty channel Great American Country.

Supergroup Velvet Revolver, which includes former members of Guns N' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, was originally scheduled to play at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, Miss. on Sept. 9. The Hard Rock was severely damaged during by Katrina, and now Velvet Revolver will play a benefit concert for hurricane victims, on September 6, at the Hard Rock Live concert venue in Orlando, Fla.

At Sept. 17, Bill Cosby, Wynton Marsalis, Elvis Costello and Diana Krall will perform the Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert for Jazz at the Lincoln Center in New York.

Celine Dion and the partners of her Las Vegas show, A New Day, have pledged $1 million US to the Red Cross. Nicolas Cage, who has a home in New Orleans, also pledged $1 million US, and Sean "Diddy" Combs and Jay-Z jointly pledged $1 million US.

Pop singer Hilary Duff has pledged $200,000 US to the Red Cross and $50,000 US to USA Harvest, which is supplying food to shelters. The 17-year-old actress-singer is also encouraging fans to bring canned food donations to her concerts.

Pat Sajak, who was taping Wheel of Fortune in New Orleans last week before the show canceled early to get out of town, said he had donated $100,000 US through the Lesley and Pat Sajak Foundation.

genauso ist es ! Dieser Abschaum steht für eine Jugend mit Kriminalität und Beleidigungen und das schwappt nach Europa rüber, sodass mittlerweile manche unserer Kinder selbst gern solche "Gangstas" wären.Das ich nicht lache ! Was soll an dieser asozialen Lebensweise erstrebenswert sein, voller Gewalt und Drogen.

Dass diese o.g. Rapper nicht spendabel sind, liegt daran, dass sie sich Gold-Uhren und neue Limousinen leisten, was zum Leben völlig unwichtige Dinge sind.Das bewundere ich zum Beispiel an schwerreichen Typen wie Paul McCartney : der könnte wie Dagobert die Ente im Geld schwimmen und damit spielen, weil er das alles nie zählen könnte.Doch so weit ich darüber weiss, fährt Paul einen normalen PKW und wird sich nicht mit Gold-Klunkern abgeben.

Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson and the Rolling Stones are among several artists who have been added to MTV, VH1 and CMT's Hurricane Katrina relief special.

Other participating artists include Maroon 5, Good Charlotte, Audioslave, Simple Plan, Common, John Mayer, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow, Dashboard Confessional, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Melissa Etheridge, Mötley Crüe, Goo Goo Dolls, Staind and Alan Jackson.

Several artists with ties to the Louisiana and Mississippi area, including Trent Reznor, 3 Doors Down, Cash Money's Baby and Lil' Wayne, the Neville Brothers, Marc Broussard and the Radiators, will also partake, along with previously announced artists Green Day, Usher, Alicia Keys, Ludacris, Dave Matthews Band, Rob Thomas, David Banner, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and John Mellencamp (see "Usher, Green Day, Alicia Keys Sign On For Hurricane Relief Concert September 10").

"Since we announced this campaign, there has been an incredible outpouring of support from the music and entertainment community, who want to lend their voices, performances or messages of hope to those in need," Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music Group, said in a statement. "The affected area hit hard by Hurricane Katrina shares a rich musical and cultural heritage, so it's all the more meaningful that we try to support these massive relief efforts through music and encouraging our audiences to help any way they can."

"It's going to be a great thing," said 3 Doors Down singer Brad Arnold, whose bandmembers had homes severely damaged in Mississippi. "It's going to raise a lot of money. It's going to raise a lot of awareness about how badly help is needed. And all in all it's gonna be a great show."

"ReAct Now: Music & Relief" will be broadcast commercial-free from New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and Atlanta and will air simultaneously on MTV, VH1, CMT, MTV2, VH1 Classic and mtvU, as well as on the broadband online channels MTV Overdrive and VSpot.

The special will raise funds for the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, America's Second Harvest and similar organizations. Additional details will be announced in the coming days.
