&A Hard Day's Night
Plot Summary: An exaggerated "Day In the Life" of the Beatlemania era Beatles. The foursome travel from train to hotel to television studio with their road crew, while Paul's "Grandfather" stirs up trouble and even temporarily convinces Ringo to abandon his responsibilities to the group and go off "paradin'."
Released at the peak of Beatlemania, 1964's 'A Hard Day's Night' quickly set a new standard for rock & roll filmmaking, with the group's Marx Brothers-inspired comic antics and Richard Lester's French New Wave-influenced cinéma vérité visual style combining to paint a definitive portrait of youth culture caught in the throes of the British Invasion.

&Help!
Plot Summary: The Beatles followed up their debut film, 'A Hard Days Night,' with this fanciful spy spoof. When Ringo adds a new ring to his collection, he's unaware of how important and dangerous this piece of jewelry is. On one hand, a religious cult considers it a sacred object and the wearer must become
a sacrifice to their gods. On the other hand, the ring has magical abilities that hold the key to supreme power. Soon the boys from Liverpool are engaged in a slapstick and madcap chase round the world, as a crazed scientist, a pack of crooks, and several religious fanatics set out to capture the band.
Will John live to sleep in his pit again?
Will Paul ever get back to his electric organ?
Will George be re-united with his ticker-tape machine?
And Ringo - Will he ever play drums again?
Watch and find out.

&Magical Mystery Tour
Plot Summary: This 1968 oddity is probably a film only a total Beatlemaniac could love, but it carries both musical and historical resonance. The roots of virtually any rock star's vanity project can be traced to this little Liverpudlian home movie. Fresh from the success of
their films 'A Hard Day's Night' and 'Help!,' and still under the influence of the intoxicants of the era, the Beatles set out to make their own fancifully psychedelic project. Using some of their favorite actors (including Victor Spinetti, who was in their first two movies), the Beatles make an alternative British travelogue, stopping occasionally to sing songs like "I Am the Walrus" and "The Fool on the Hill."
&Filming Information
Premiere: December 26, 1967
Running Time: 50 minutes
Produced By: The Beatles; Denis O'Dell for Apple Corps.
Filming Locations: England; Nice, France ('Fool on the Hill' segment).

I guess that was some wishful thinking on my behalf.
This film was the first critical failure ever to be created by the Beatles. For shame, boys, for shame. XD

&Yellow Submarine
Plot Summary: This animated valentine to the Beatles offers viewers a vivid time capsule of the late '60s and a minor milestone in animation. The music represents the quartet's zenith--Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The story line, cobbled together by producer Al Brodax
and a committee of writers, is a broad, feather-light allegory set in idyllic Pepperland, where the gentle citizens are threatened by the nasty, music-hating Blue Meanies and their surreal arsenal of henchmen, with the Beatles enlisted to thwart the bad guys. Visually, designer Heinz Edelmann mixes the biomorphic squiggles, day-glo palette, and Beardsley-esque portraits of Peter Max with rotoscoped still photographs and film; Edelmann's animated collages also nod to Andy Warhol and Magritte in properly psychedelic fashion, which works wonderfully with such terrific songs.
High orthodox Beatlemaniacs can still grouse that the animated Fab Four are (literally) flat archetypes, but that's missing the sheer bloom of the music or the giddy, campy fun of the visuals. Making sense of the story is second to submerging blissfully in the sights and sounds of this video treat.

&Let It Be
Plot Summary: The dissolution of the Fab Four is captured on camera in Michael Lindsay-Hogg's documentary, a filmed record of the sessions for what would become the Beatles' final release, Let It Be. Included is footage shot at the famous rooftop concert that was the Fabs' final live appearance.
The Beatles are shown rehearsing, performing, arguing and recording and allow the cameras to record their every word and note in the recording studio. The film opens with Paul showing Ringo a piano composition, while the group is surrounded in silence, seemingly light-years removed from the screaming hordes of fans that necessitated their withdrawal from performing live. Billy Preston drops by to jam on keyboards. For this film, The Beatles collectively won an Oscar for "Best Original Film Score," their only Academy Award.

Die fraglichen Titel waren „Can't Buy Me Love“, „Twist And Shout“, „She Loves You“, „I Want To Hold Your Hand“ und „Please Please Me“.
Dem Titel I Want to Hold Your Hand folgte She Loves You und nach dieser Single kam Can't Buy Me Love auf Platz 1. |
